From 7-9 June 2018, Portoroz (Slovenia) hosted the 2018 AFEMS Congress.
The Congress, at its 67th edition, was a great success: 131 guests joined the numerous AFEMS' Institutional and Social events scheduled in the agenda.
The General Assembly, held on 8th June, once again showed a great participation: 76 delegates representing 44 Companies and Associations from 20 different European Countries.
During the General Assembly, the AFEMS activities of the past 12 months were reported and the action plan regarding the next 12 months was presented. The Chairmen of the Committees and the Secretariat presented the progress made on projects under their responsibility.
Several presentations were illustrated by outstanding Guest Speakers. The first presentation provided a portrait of the hunting activity in Slovenia. The second provided an overview of the directive implementation in Sweden, while the third presentation focused on the public consultation recently launched by ECHA and the impact that the inclusion of lead metal in the REACH Candidate List could have on the ammunition sector.
The next AFEMS Congress will be held in June 2019, in Helsinki (Finland).

More than ammunition: AFEMS' commitment towards sports, environment and social inclusion
Hunting and sport shooting are sometimes perceived in a negative way despite the industry's continuous commitment to positively impact the communities where these sports are practiced. That's why AFEMS and its members work tirelessly to better communicate these benefits so the general public can have a holistic view of the industry, which is about much more than just lead. ROVI-TECH has more than twenty year experience in the vision field for industrial applications.
ROVI-TECH has developed its own vision system: the ILB-25 (Image Learning Box) working by extraction in the ROI (Region of Interest) of significant vectors treated by our integrated very rich library of mathematical functions.
The system includes also in house metrological software and a very high performance neural correlator. Our concept allows realizing meanly industrial applications without having to develop any software.
The ILB-25N operates on the basis of learning. It is able to assimilate a concept and make decision after learning about a situation never observed and learned before. The ILB-25 works by learning the same way of the human brain.
The ROVI-TECH applications in vision are intended for ail industrial sectors: food , pharmaceutics, automotive, aeroplane, ammunition ...
ROVI -TECH has also developed, in cooperation with INDUSYS TECHNOLOGIES a specific technique, always based on the neural network, for controlling without failure COSMETIC and DIMENSIONAL aspects on primers, metallic, rimfire and shotgun ammo.

1. On metallic ammo:
- Detection of scratches and stains on the case body and on the bullet
- Bullet crimping or centering
- Annealing presence
- Primer presence and correct positioning
- Recognition of manufacturer code on the case bottom
- Varnish colour presence
- Metrological controls

2. On shotgun ammo:
- Scratches and stains on the metal head edge
- Plastic tube crimping
- Plastic tube colour
- Tube overlap / fold on head edge
- Primer presence and positioning
- Manufacturer logo on the metal head
- Concentricity of tube mouth
- Tube skiving
- Metrological controls

Other possible specific applications to be examined on request.
