2018 AFEMS CONGRESS
From 7-9 June 2018, Portoroz (Slovenia) hosted the 2018 AFEMS Congress.
The Congress, at its 67th edition, was a great success: 131 guests joined the numerous AFEMS' Institutional and Social events scheduled in the agenda.
The General Assembly, held on 8th June, once again showed a great participation: 76 delegates representing 44 Companies and Associations from 20 different European Countries.
During the General Assembly, the AFEMS activities of the past 12 months were reported and the action plan regarding the next 12 months was presented. The Chairmen of the Committees and the Secretariat presented the progress made on projects under their responsibility.
Several presentations were illustrated by outstanding Guest Speakers. The first presentation provided a portrait of the hunting activity in Slovenia. The second provided an overview of the directive implementation in Sweden, while the third presentation focused on the public consultation recently launched by ECHA and the impact that the inclusion of lead metal in the REACH Candidate List could have on the ammunition sector.
The next AFEMS Congress will be held in June 2019, in Helsinki (Finland).

Communication Committee

A Communication Committee has been established to meet the growing need to manage communication between our members and affiliates, our key external stakeholder and public opinion as a key strategy resource,

It comprises experts of the Association's member companies with extensive knowledge and expertise in communication strategies plans and tools. The Committee is led by a Chairman who is elected by at least two thirds of committee members. The Chairman, whose nomination has to be approved by the Board, is elected for a three year period which is renewable.

Each AFEMS Member has the right to delegate an expert from its organisation as a member of the Committee. The Communication Committee convenes when deemed necessary.

While it operates on the basis of a programme laid down by the Board, it is entitled to initiate projects of its own, reporting to the Board through the Secretary General.

The Committee, under Board authorisation, may be supported by external experts.

The main tasks of the Committee are:
• to guarantee that comprehensive and clear reports on the main activities of the Association are regularly distributed to our members and affiliates;
• to address to our key stakeholder, namely the European legislators and regulators on the one side and the other European associations on the other, the central message that support the defence and, more so, the development, of our activities;
• to prepare and disseminate clear and effective messages to inform public opinion on the Association's position regarding key issues
