2019 AFEMS CONGRESS
From 6-8 June 2019, Helsinki (Finland) hosted the 2019 AFEMS Congress.
The Congress, at its 68th edition, was a great success: 115 guests joined the numerous AFEMS' Institutional and Social events scheduled in the agenda.
The General Assembly, held on 7th June, once again showed a great participation: 82 delegates representing 52 Companies and Associations from 19 different European Countries.
During the General Assembly, the AFEMS activities of the past 12 months were reported and the action plan regarding the next 12 months was presented. The Chairmen of the Committees and the Secretariat presented the progress made on projects under their responsibility.
Several presentations were illustrated by outstanding Guest Speakers. From the hunting-related themes – as discussed by Paolo Fiocchi (Università Statale di Milano), Heli Siitari (Executive Director at Finnish Hunters' Association) and Torbjörn Larsson (President of the European Federation for Hunting and Conservation) – to the more political ones – covered from the European perspective by Mauro Silvis (Secretary General of the IEACS) and from the US one by Richard Patterson (Executive Director of SAAMI). What is more, Mr Karl-Heinz Florenz, German MEP, talked about his 30-years experience in the European Parliament and his perceptions of the sector as Chair of the Biodiversity, Hunting and Countryside Intergroup.
The major event was also the stage for the election and presentation of the new AFEMS President, Mr Thierry Jacobs from FN Herstal, Belgium. Mr Torbjörn Lindskog was appointed Honorary President in charge of the external relations and maintaining the role as President of the WFSA.
The next AFEMS Congress will be held in June 2020, in Prague (Czech Republic).

Company's Description
Sako is the world's most prestigious rifle and cartridge brand with its globally renowned brands of Sako and Tikka rifles and cartridges. Sako's history began when the company was founded in the early 1920s. Sako has come a long way from its early hand manufacture to today's computer aided R&D and CNC manufacturing. Nevertheless, the value of the traditional gunsmith craftsmanship has not been forgotten.
For decades Sako has developed world-class military, target and hunting rifles, as well as centerfire cartridges. Sako makes more than 100 different loads in 35 popular calibers for different targets and hunting purposes. Making both rifles and cartridges is a matter of pride for Sako. By integrating its knowledge of both the rifle and cartridge production, Sako and Tikka brands can offer a shooter the unique advantages of uncompromising accuracy and reliability.
At the turn of the millennium, Sako was honored to become a member of the Italian Beretta Group, which gave access to new and advanced production methods enabling Sako to continuously refine its products development. Alongside Beretta and its unique firearms traditions that reach all the way to the year 1526, Sako looks ahead more confidently than ever.
Sako's main fields of operation include the design, production, marketing and global sales to more than 50 countries. In Finland Sako is the leading importer and wholesale merchant in the field.
