From 7-9 June 2018, Portoroz (Slovenia) hosted the 2018 AFEMS Congress.
The Congress, at its 67th edition, was a great success: 131 guests joined the numerous AFEMS' Institutional and Social events scheduled in the agenda.
The General Assembly, held on 8th June, once again showed a great participation: 76 delegates representing 44 Companies and Associations from 20 different European Countries.
During the General Assembly, the AFEMS activities of the past 12 months were reported and the action plan regarding the next 12 months was presented. The Chairmen of the Committees and the Secretariat presented the progress made on projects under their responsibility.
Several presentations were illustrated by outstanding Guest Speakers. The first presentation provided a portrait of the hunting activity in Slovenia. The second provided an overview of the directive implementation in Sweden, while the third presentation focused on the public consultation recently launched by ECHA and the impact that the inclusion of lead metal in the REACH Candidate List could have on the ammunition sector.
The next AFEMS Congress will be held in June 2019, in Helsinki (Finland).

Ammunition factory “Prvi Partizan” is situated in south-western part of Serbia, in Uzice town, 200 km away from Belgrade. It started the activity in 1928 and was the first private factory of the kind in the Balkans, with its own school for training of riflemen. In 1946 the factory became State owned Company having general sociable importance. Today the PPU Partizan works as joint stock company and is one of the six Companies belonging to the Group of Serbian Defence Industry. With constant development and increase assortment, ammunition production is the main production program, with high orientation to export. The flexibility of the production lines enables PPU to produce more than 60 different calibres of ammunition for rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers. All calibres are produced in many bullets types and different weights. PPU produces high quality and reliable ammunition complying with the relevant international standards, depending by the market where the products are delivered and used, including NATO, SAAMI, MIL and CIP. In the quality control procedure, as well as in all the business processes in the Company, is applied the Quality Management System according to requirements oft he standard ISO 9001 is applied. The production program of PPU consists today of:
