From 7-9 June 2018, Portoroz (Slovenia) hosted the 2018 AFEMS Congress.
The Congress, at its 67th edition, was a great success: 131 guests joined the numerous AFEMS' Institutional and Social events scheduled in the agenda.
The General Assembly, held on 8th June, once again showed a great participation: 76 delegates representing 44 Companies and Associations from 20 different European Countries.
During the General Assembly, the AFEMS activities of the past 12 months were reported and the action plan regarding the next 12 months was presented. The Chairmen of the Committees and the Secretariat presented the progress made on projects under their responsibility.
Several presentations were illustrated by outstanding Guest Speakers. The first presentation provided a portrait of the hunting activity in Slovenia. The second provided an overview of the directive implementation in Sweden, while the third presentation focused on the public consultation recently launched by ECHA and the impact that the inclusion of lead metal in the REACH Candidate List could have on the ammunition sector.
The next AFEMS Congress will be held in June 2019, in Helsinki (Finland).

Kudret Metal Smelting Industry Trade Inc. founded in 1988,  is one of the substantial investments in Turkey located at Eskisehir Provice, ?nönü District.
Kudret Metal Inc. is located on a closed area of 14.000 m²  on an area of total 350,000m², where its first activity started as the recycling of scrap lead-acid batteries. In 2004 Kudret Metal Inc. included an Antimony processing plant. Today Kudret Metal Inc manufactures lead shots, Lead& Antimony ingots and sow blocks.
In 2005 ISO 9001:2000 quality improvement processes and quality management system implementations started to take place and in 2006 September the certificate was gained.  At present, activities are taken under 14001:2000 Environmental Management Systems, TS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
Since the factory is also a recycling premises, it is Kudret Metal Inc. obligation to give essential care to the environment and to human health. Along with the developing technology Kudret Metal Inc. with its work provides contribution to the country’s economy. All applications taken at its premises are carried on with such mentality.
Kudret Metal Inc. believes that by recycling lead-acid batteries that have filled their life time,  it expresses respect to human kind and nature. All manufacturing processes are taken under precautions to keep the environment safe. For this reason it is Kudret Metal Inc. objective to take all kinds of precautions to provide recycling and elimination of all types of wastes such as gas, water and etc.
Accumulator Manufacturers and Recycling Industrialists coming together, have founded an association named AKÜDER (Akümülator ve Geri Kazan?m Sanayiciler Derne?i/Accumulator and Recycling Industrialists Association) of which Kudret Metal Inc. is proud to be one of the founding members.
Yet again, Kudret Metal Inc.  is the first company to hold an establishment license given by the Ministry of  Environment and Forestry for providing the APAK regulations on 17.04.2006 (APAK- At?k Pil ve Akümülatörlerin Kontrolü / Waste Batteries and Accumulator Control Regulations)
